We are frequently asked, “What is Yacht Rock?” It’s a unique genre that’s hard to define, but we’ll try. Some say it’s Soft Rock from the 1970s and 1980s, others pinpoint a specific period between 1977 and 1984. Many also associate Yacht Rock with Westcoast Rock, incorporating smooth jazz, downbeat disco, and soul. As an authentic Yacht rock tribute band, we pride ourselves on capturing the essence of this distinctive era in American music.

We hired Sugar The Band to play for our 4th of July 250th Anniversary event this year. They brought the exact “vibe” we were looking for, and we received MANY compliments about the quality and content of the show. People danced and sang along, and Mrs. Gloria was gracious enough to take a few requests from the audience – not disappointing in their reproduction. I was able to speak with several of the band members while they were on break, and all were very professional in their interactions; professional both on- and off-stage. If you have the chance, and love a yacht-rockin’ good time, seriously think about having Sugar out. You won’t be disappointed. We promise. We will absolutely have them back out!
We hired Sugar the Band for our Anniversary party reception. We were delighted with the whole team and would hire them again in an instant. Gloria, the lead singer, was a delight, as was the whole ensemble. They were engaging with our 100 guests. The music was spot-on for us Boomers, and even the younger folks had nice things to say because the band’s music is almost timeless. Very talented, great voices, not too loud or too soft.
